KKHS panel considers uniforms, a would-be isle public school 1st

PUKALANI - A panel at King Kekaulike High School has begun deliberating whether the campus should implement what would be the first uniform policy for a public high school on Maui.
Most of the testimony given Thursday night in the school library opposed the policy, arguing that uniformity in attire would not resolve the serious student discipline problems on campus.

WAILUKU - Bureaucrats reviewing routine plumbing and electrical permits won't have to consult the Countywide Policy Plan, but County Council members did take steps Thursday to better define what kind of permits will.
Members of the council's Planning Committee voted to keep a sentence in the plan that says it doesn't need to be applied to the county's review of "ministerial permits.
