Emmanuel Lutheran pastor, wife retire

Judy Fricke is retiring from Emmanuel Lutheran Church after 37 years of service. She and her husband, Pastor Milton Fricke, enjoys the celebration at the couple's retirement party Saturday morning at the Maui Tropical Plantation. Pastor Fricke is retiring after serving for 40 years, and the couple were happy to greet a long line of friends and family at the event.

DOT seeks to allay fears over bridge project

LAHAINA - Tentative state Department of Transportation plans to rehabilitate or even rebuild a little white one-lane bridge in West Maui has some conservationists worrying the project is really just the thin edge of a wedge to allow development into one of the area's last remaining pristine expanses.
