County considers buying old Wailuku Post Office

WAILUKU - The county is considering buying the old Wailuku Post Office for $1.5 million and converting the building into new office space. Mayor Charmaine Tavares said she proposed the purchase after a study of county office space recommended acquiring the property and using it to expand the county's Wailuku campu.

Sampling the fruits of their labor

Kihei Elementary School 2nd-graders from Alana Kaopuiki's science class picked lettuce and beans that were planted on the school's campus in February. The class has about 20 students. 150 will be evicted from airport area

KAHULUI - Approximately 150 homeless people who have set up camps near the Paia end of the main Kahului Airport runway will be evicted from the state-owned land in the next couple of months, officials said Thursday. Some of the 40 to 50 campsites are as close as 150 feet to the runway fence line.
