Chang’s Beach is another terrific snorkeling spot in Maui Hawaii, is just south of Po’olenalena Beach. Because of this location, it really offers the same snorkeling grounds, just accessed from the south side of the rocky point, instead of the north side.
A special birthday at hula competition

Hula dancer Aysha Limatoc (center above) wishes Kainoa Seina a happy sixth birthday Saturday at the 18th Hula O Na Keiki competition, held at the Ka'anapali Beach Hotel.
Kainoa's sister, Nikki Seina (left), joined them. All belong to the Joan Lindsey Hula Studio of Oahu and are participating in the competition.
MHS marching band earns a handful of first-place honors

The Maui High School Saber Marching Band and Color Guard picked up five first-place wins but not the top prize in a prestigious competition held Saturday on Oahu.
"I am very happy with the way they did," band director Kerry Wasano said Sunday in a telephone interview from Honolulu. "It was their best performance of the season by far.
Officials worried over low rainfall plaguing county

WAILUKU - Scant rainfall continued to alarm Maui County water officials who kept a wary eye on low flows in the Wailoa Ditch last week.
The ditch gathers water from the East Maui watershed and channels it to the Kamole Water Treatment Plant, a vital source of drinking water pumped uphill to parched Upcountry reservoirs.

KAHULUI - Neighbors in the Legends at Maui Lani held hands in prayer as firefighters fought approximately 100 yards behind their backyards to keep a brush fire away Sunday afternoon.
"The firefighters were really on it," said Bill Staton, an Anamuli Street homeowner who could have been one of the first to lose his residence if conditions had not favored him and his neighbors.
