Award-winning guitarist Carlos Santana has said he wants to become a church minister when he retires from music. Santana, 61, told Rolling Stone magazine he would eventually like to start a church in Maui, Hawaii.
Dog attack instills fear in Pukalani pet owner

Dog owner Jean Southmayd is "very fearful" about walking her dogs in her Pukalani neighborhood after a pit bull attacked her Cavalier King Charles spaniel, Lily, as they were walking home from a nearby park early Wednesday evening.
She said she and Lily were two doors away from their home when they were attacked.
"This dog was unrestrained, unleashed and shot out of the driveway.
Lanai selected as setting for ‘The Tempest’

WAILUKU - The "brave new world" William Shakespeare imagined in his play "The Tempest" will look like Lanai and the Big Island in a major motion picture adaptation of the masterwork, set to begin filming in the islands in November.

Maui Lu’s shutdown to cost 41 more jobs

KIHEI - Kihei's original resort, the Aston Maui Lu, is to close next month and lay off 41 employees in the process.
The sprawling complex of multilevel apartments and individual bungalows has become dilapidated as redevelopment plans stalled normal maintenance. It will all be flattened.
Sometime in the next three years, 388 time-share units will rise up from spacious grounds at 575 S.
