Body identified as Lahaina man

LAHAINA - A man whose body was found in the ocean Saturday off Nakalele Point has been identified as a 22-year-old Lahaina man, police said. Fire rescue crews recovered the body of Alejandro Vasquez-Barales shortly after 7 p.m. According to fire officials, the man's girlfriend reported he had been standing on rocks when he was swept into the ocean around 6:30 p.m.

HI-5 redemption center opens today

PUKALANI - A new HI-5 redemption center for cans, bottles and plastic drink containers will open this morning on the grounds of the Pukalani Community Church of the Nazarene. WAILUKU - A Haiku woman was ordered to talk to high school students about the dangers of drinking and driving, as she was sentenced Friday for a crash that killed another driver three years ago. Kristen Uilani Davis, 22, also was sentenced to three years of house arrest as part of five years' probation, and ordered to pay $9,532 in restitution.
